About the Factors Calculator
What Are Factors?
Factors of a number are all the integers that divide into it exactly with no remainder. For example, the factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12. Every number has at least two factors: 1 and itself.
Why Factors Matter
- Simplifying fractions β divide numerator and denominator by a shared factor
- Finding the greatest common factor of two numbers
- Understanding number properties in maths and cryptography
- Solving problems involving equal groups or grid arrangements
Prime Factors vs All Factors
All factors includes composite numbers (like 4, 6, 8 for 24). Prime factors are only the prime numbers in that list. Both are shown in our results.
Common Use Cases
- Finding factors for simplifying fractions
- Solving problems involving equal groups or grid arrangements
- Number theory and maths homework
- Finding shared factors when comparing two numbers
